The Murraylands Food Alliance says it will focus on developing regional pride in the next 12 months, as it builds collaboration between some of the region’s major food producers.
The group, founded by Regional Development Australia in 2012, consists of 10 of the South Australian Murraylands’ major food growers.
Alliance chairman David McKay said it was funded on a year-to-year basis and would entail a range of initiatives.
“Well over the next sort of 12-month period we see four main strategies for the collective and that would be to look at the people, place, innovation and growth,” he said.
He said while local producers were seeing its benefits, more work could be done.
“Increasing the awareness of internal and external stakeholders of the output of the Murraylands’ food industry, looking at workforce development in the Murraylands Food Alliance and one of the big pillar and priority [areas] is increasing regional pride in the food industry through beautification initiatives in and around the region that we operate,” he said.
