Several Murraylands brands have joined forces to produce a range of meal boxes featuring premium, 100 per cent local ingredients.
Online delivery service Thomas Farms Kitchen launched the meal boxes – built around Thomas Foods International beef and lamb, Costa Adelaide Mushrooms, Rivapak onions, Parilla Premium Potatoes, Longridge Olives, Big River Pork, Ingham’s chicken and Swanport Harvest vegetables – last month.
Each box contains a recipe and the pre-portioned ingredients needed to prepare it.
Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland chief executive officer Jo Podoliak said the region-specific meal boxes were an Australian first in paddock-to-plate eating, and would reduce food miles while supporting local farmers.
“Consumers have an insatiable hunger to know where their food comes from,” she said.
“The Murraylands Food Alliance and Thomas Farms Kitchen co-branded meal boxes will help cater for this demand.
“The Murraylands, South Australia’s largest food bowl, has established itself as a go-to food source with its authentic, local and premium quality reputation appealing to discerning foodies.”
The Murraylands Food Alliance’s members produce nearly half of the region’s economic activity.
